Angry farmers ask Rahul Gandhi to ‘go back to Italy’

Amethi: Congress Persident Rahul Gandhi who is on a tour of Amethi and Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday faced ‘go back to Italy’ taunts.

As per the reports  Congress chief was in his parliamentary constituency of Amethi on Wednesday, farmers staged a protest against him. The protest took place in Gauriganj town in Amethi district. The farmers demanded that either the land that they had given away for the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation be returned or jobs are provided to them.

Farmers told to News agency that they are very upset with Rahul Gandhi. He should go back to Italy. He does not deserve to be here. Rahul has grabbed our land." The protest was held near the Samrat Cycle factory, whose inauguration was done by former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Earlier, Gandhi has faced criticism from Union minister Smriti Irani and has been accused of grabbing farmers’ land using the foundation. However, Rahul has maintained that the party will always protect farmers' interests and waive off their loans after the party makes government.

Addressing to people, Rahul said that he will stand by farmers, wherever they need him. Not only for Amethi, but in the entire country.
