Colombo: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa survived a mob lynching on Tuesday when a large number of protesters marched towards his house. Thousands of protesters attacked the main gate of the PM residence. However, it was fortunate that the soldiers took charge in time. Mahinda Rajapaksa was safely rescued from his official residence in Colombo in the morning by heavily armed soldiers.

After this the protesters made an attempt to enter the 'Temple Trees'. It is a colonial-era two-storey building where the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and his family resides. Let us inform that PM Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned from his post on Monday amid the severe economic crisis in Sri Lanka. When security forces pulled Rajapaksa and his family out of the 'Temple Trees', police fired tear gas and fired in the air to stop the crowd. A security official told the media that, 'After the operation earlier in the morning, the former prime minister and his family were safely evacuated by the army.

But during this at least 10 petrol bombs were hurled in the premises. According to the report, supporters of the PM attacked the protesters present outside the protest site 'Managogama' near his official residence 'Temple Trees'. After that the situation became tense. According to the 'Heeru News' website, the police used water cannons to disperse the supporters of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
