Protests have started at several places in Odisha, including Cuttack, against the central government's scheme 'Agneepath' for recruitment. Apart from this, there is opposition to this scheme in all parts of the country.

We have been preparing to join the army for the last four years. My friend Dhananjay passed the physical fitness test a year and a half ago. He was assured of a written examination from the army.
However, due to Corona, the written exam was cancelled several times. It was eventually cancelled because of the Agneepath scheme. The friend said that through the WhatsApp group, he came to know that many youths from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Kolkata had committed suicide. Seeing all this, Dhananjay's mental balance was disturbed and last night he made himself happy. He sent me the message before he killed himself. "Don't trust this government and never vote for them. The father of the deceased has alleged that after the announcement of the 'Agneepath' scheme, the army cancelled the written examination, due to which the son took such a step. As soon as the news of Dhananjay's death was received, the family was in mourning.
