Chinese bank case: 'Selling jewellery to pay lawyers' says Anil Ambani in UK court

Mumbai: Anil Ambani, who has been one of the top billionaires in the country, has become such that he has to sell his jewellery to fill the fee of his lawyers. The debt-burdened industrialist Anil Ambani himself conveyed this to a British court. He told the court that he was living an ordinary life and he used only one car.

Anil Ambani said that between January and June this year, he sold jewellery worth Rs 9.9 crore and now he has no such valuables left. When questioned about the fleet of luxury cars, he replied, "All these rumours are coming in the media. I never had Rolls Royce. Right now I'm just using a car. '

The UK High Court had on May 22, 2020, asked Ambani to pay three Chinese banks as legal expenses to 71, 69, 17681 dollars (about Rs 5,281 crore) and 50,000 pounds (about Rs 7 crore) as legal expenses till June 12, 2020. Then, on June 15, Chinese banks led by industrial and Commercial Bank of China demanded the disclosure of Anil Ambani's property.
