Mumbai: Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has been summoned by the ED in an alleged money laundering case but Anil Deshmukh has expressed his inability to appear before the Enforcement Directorate. He has written a letter to the ED in this regard explaining the reason for his non-attendance. In his letter, he has written, "He is 72 years old and suffering from a lot of diseases, so he will have difficulty commuting if ED can record the statement through audio or video if they want to.'' There has been no response from the ED so far.

Let us also inform all of you that the ED had asked Anil Deshmukh to appear for the second time for questioning in the money laundering case. Earlier last Saturday, Anil Deshmukh was summoned by ED to appear before it. You must be aware that former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, who came under question following allegations of alleged extortion by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, had to resign as home minister, he is constantly under investigation.

The ED had conducted a search operation at four locations in Mumbai and one in Nagpur last Friday. Meanwhile, investigations found that about 10 Mumbai owners had paid them a hefty sum of Rs 4 crore for three months. Not only that, but the Enforcement Directorate had also arrested Deshmukh's personal secretary Sanjeev Palande and personal assistant Kundan Shinde on Saturday.
