New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare on Thursday wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi reiterating his decision that he will go on hunger strike for the last time on farmers' issue in Delhi in late January. Hazare has written this letter amidst the ongoing agitation by various farmers' organisations on the borders of Delhi against the centre's three new agricultural laws.

Talking to the press later, Hazare said that the new agricultural laws are not conducive to democratic values and public participation is necessary in drafting bills. Hazare (83) said without assigning the date that he would start his hunger strike by the end of the month. On December 14 last year, Hazare had written a letter to Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar requesting that he would strike a hunger strike if his demands were not considered, including the recommendations of the Ms Swaminathan Committee on Agriculture.

They have also demanded autonomy to the Commission for agricultural costs and prices. Anna Hazare said that on the issue of farmers, I wrote a letter to the centre five times, but there was no response. In a letter to PM Modi, Hazare said, "Due to this, I have decided to go on the last hunger strike of my life. '
