New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare has warned to go on hunger strike if the central government does not accept the demands made by his farmers till the end of January. Talking to reporters, Anna Hazare in Ralegan Siddhi village of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra said that he has been demonstrating for the farmers for the last three years, but the government did not take any steps to address these issues.

The 83-year-old Anna Hazare said that the government only makes hollow promises, so I have no faith in that now. Let's see what action the government takes on my demands. They have asked for a month of deferment and I have given them time till the end of January. If my demands are not met, I will go on hunger strike again. This will be my last performance. Anna Hazare had written a letter to Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on 14 December and warned that MS. He will go on hunger strike if his demands to implement Swaminathan Committee recommendations and to provide autonomy to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices are not given.

Haribhau Bagade, a veteran BJP leader and former Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, had also met Hazare recently and informed him about the three new agricultural laws introduced by the Center. Hazare fasted in support of the Bharat Bandh of farmer organizations on December 8, demanding the repeal of three agricultural laws brought by the central government.
