CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu health department has issued a high-level alert for the Anna University campus after six students tested positive for Covid -19.

On Tuesday, six of the 40 samples tested so far were found to be positive. Other samples have been tested by the health department, and the results are pending. Contact tracing, asymptomatic testing, and saturation tests will all be conducted to prevent the disease from spreading further on campus, according to health department sources.

J. Radhakrishnan, the Tamil Nadu health secretary, said the government is taking every precaution to prevent the sickness from spreading further and advised students to separate themselves.   The authorities indicated that more tests would be conducted among students on campus, adding that students and faculty should be on high alert and take preventative measures themselves.

They also advised students to get tested right away if they show symptoms of the disease such as influenza, cold, fever, or cough. If students, instructors, or other staff members exhibit Covid-19-like symptoms, the department issued a circular urging them to seek testing as soon as possible.

The health secretary stated that Covid-19 cases are under control, but that some persons are still testing positive after receiving both vaccine doses. Covid clusters, according to health department authorities, arise only among people who have travelled previously or who have attended large gatherings.
