Anne Heche has said that she believes her show was terminated as a result of her relationship with host Ellen DeGeneres. In an interview with Page Six, the actress, 52, discussed her previous connection with DeGeneres and how it affected her career.

Heche, who was in a relationship with DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000, described herself as "patient zero in cancel culture." "This was not a long-term relationship. This was a turning point in my life when I was granted the honour of being able to speak up for what I believe in, something I've done since I was a child "Heche recalled something. The pair had previously appeared together at the premiere of the 1997 film Volcano, which garnered a lot of attention. At the time, several fans were questioning their same-sex relationship. Calling DeGeneres for the premiere was about "living in loving-kindness," Heche told Page Six.

Heche said that she was "fired from a $10 million picture agreement and did not see the light of day in a studio feature" as a result of the consequences. Heche also discussed the encouragement she received from Harrison Ford, who phoned her up for a role she didn't believe she'd get. Heche referred to him as her "hero" and recalled a chat with him. "Frankly, my darling, I couldn't care less who you're sleeping with," he remarked. "'We're working on a romantic comedy.' "Let's make it the finest one ever," Heche said, according to Page Six.

Heche positively reviewed the repercussions and explained that they "created a part of the change." “I’m a part of it. It is a badge of honour," she added.
