Pune: In a case of online fraud, a man robbed a 69-year-old elderly woman of Rs 8 lakhs after he became her friend using social networking site Facebook. According to the Source report, an FIR has been registered in this case against the fraud under the IT Act in Chandan Nagar Police station in Pune. 

According to the source reports, the accused emotionally targetted the woman to gain her trust. After this, he frequented the woman's house. And one day on the pretext of having dinner with her, he stole jewellery worth Rs eight lakhs from the woman's house. In this case, the 43-year-old son of the elderly woman has lodged a complaint against the accused, one Anil Nanwani, with the police.

According to the police information, the complainant dealt in the stock market because of which he had to travel to Mumbai several times. In July 2018, the accused Nanwani sent a friend request to the complainant's mother on Facebook where the both of them started a conversation.  This soon turned into friendship and the two started chatting on their phones. During one of these chats, Nanwani told the woman that his parents have thrown him out of the house and that he does not have any support now. 

However, the accused gained sympathy along with the woman's trust. He also visited her house. During his fourth visit, Nanwani had the entire information about the woman's house and the know-how of the complainant business and his visit to Mumbai. After the complainant went to Mumbai on Saturday (February 16), Nanwani visited the complainant's house at noon. After which, the woman also made a meal for Nanwani. After that, the duo had lunch together. 

Meanwhile, Nanwani stole two expensive watches, cash and jewellery from the vault worth Rs eight lakh. When the complainant returned home from Mumbai, he noticed that there is no jewellery and money in the vault. He later came to know from his mother that Nanwani visited her when he was not at home. After this, he immediately filed a complaint in the police. At present, the police are investigating more in this matter.
