Shahdol: A heart-wrenching incident is coming to light from Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh, in which a helpless father had to carry the dead body of his 13-year-old daughter on a motorcycle after a government hospital refused to provide an ambulance. The father told that there was no money for an ambulance, due to which the dead body of the daughter had to be carried like this. Father Laxman Singh carried his daughter's dead body for 70 kilometers on a motorcycle. Laxman, a resident of Kota city, said his daughter Madhuri died of sickle cell anemia on Monday night.

He told that I had asked the hospital officials for a hearse van, but they told that vehicles are not available for places more than 15 km away. They asked us to arrange it ourselves. Due to paucity of money, we carried our daughter's body on the bike itself.

The helpless father Laxman Singh said that he was about 20 kilometers away from his town when he was spotted by Vandana Vaidya, the collector of Shahdol. Vandana, who was on her way to another city at that time, ordered a vehicle to be provided to take the girl's body to Singh's city. After getting the vehicle, Singh took his daughter's dead body in it and then cremated it. The Shahdol Collector provided some financial assistance to the family and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
