Recently, the government has blocked around 1.7 crore SIM cards of major telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL. These SIM cards were issued with the help of fake Aadhaar cards and other fake documents. This step has been taken by the government to prevent spam calls and fraud. If your SIM card is also issued on any wrong document, then it can also be blocked. Therefore, it is important that you ensure that your SIM card is not issued in someone else's name.

Big revelation with the help of AI

To shut down these fake SIM cards, the government has taken the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI). With the help of AI tools, about 1.77 crore mobile connections were shut down, which were purchased through fake or forged documents. Apart from this, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and telecom operators have stopped about 45 lakh fake international calls before they reached the network.

11 lakh bank accounts were also frozen

Not just SIM cards, the government has also frozen 11 lakh accounts linked to banks and payment wallets. All these accounts were involved in suspicious activities, and have been frozen to prevent fraud. The government says that more strict steps will be taken in the coming days and more fake SIM cards will be blocked.

How to check whether your SIM card is correct or not?

If you also doubt whether your SIM card has been issued on someone else's documents, then you can find out by following some easy steps:

First of all go to the website tafcop.sancharsaathi.gov.in.
Enter your mobile number there.
After this you will get an OTP, enter it.
After this you will get information about how many SIM cards have been issued from your ID.

This process is very simple and through this you can easily know whether your SIM card is correct or not.

Impact of ban on fake SIM cards

This step of the government is to curb the increasing spam calls and fraud in the country. Since this campaign has started, lakhs of fake SIM cards and calls have been blocked. The government says that more strict steps will be taken in the coming time so that any kind of fraud and forgery can be stopped in the country.
