At least 275 people were killed in a train accident in Odisha's Balasore district on Sunday. In fact, a goods train derailed in Bargarh district of Odisha. However, the East Coast Railway issued a statement saying that the wagons of the goods train being operated by a private cement factory have derailed. The incident took place inside the factory premises. No role of railways is being said in this incident. Railways have said that at the place where the accident took place, all the infrastructure such as engines, wagons, train tracks, etc. are maintained by the private company.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have reached the spot to take care of the injured in the tragic train accident in Balasore, Odisha and take stock of the improvement work of railway lines. During this, Dharmendra Pradhan said that there were 4 trains, not 3, on the track. There were two passenger trains and two freight trains. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, after reviewing the injured, said 100 injured needed critical care.
At the same time, Dharmendra Pradhan has told that the fourth train was a freight train and its engine has been damaged. So far 288 people have lost their lives in this accident, while more than 1000 people have been injured. The rescue operation has been completed. At the same time, the treatment of the injured is going on in various hospitals. The Union Health Minister visited AIIMS Bhubaneswar and Medical College, Cuttack to take stock of the medical treatment being provided to the victims. Mandaviya said he has had a detailed discussion about the accident and an action plan has also been prepared.
