This year the two most awaited movies Akshay Kumar’s Rakshabandhan and Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha called for Boycott. As a result, the movies failed to perform well at Box Office. Recently Anurag Kashyap reacting to the trends said these all are trends to distract common people from real issues.

In a recent interview when Anurag Kapoor asked about South Vs Bollywood and the failure of Big Budget movies on Boxoffice. To this, he said, "Nobody is lacking. How do you know Southern movies work? One film worked in Kannada and Tamil and two each in Hindi and Telugu. You wouldn't names of Telugu, same in Tamil and Kannada films that released over past few weeks. That is because films are not working there either.”

Anurag linked the Boxoffice Failure with GST and added, “The main problem is that people do not have the money. You are paying GST on paneer. You are paying GST on your food. The calls for boycott, boycott Bollywood, boycott this and that ..all those trend so you may get distracted (from the real issue). And, with their money, people wish to spend on a film when they are completely sure the film will be liked by all. Or, if people have been waiting for the film for years. RRR for example, people have been waiting for SS Rajamouli's film ever since Bahubali. KGF 2 was also a much-awaited film, ever since the success of KGF."

Recently Arjun Kapoor also speaking about Boycott Trend said, "I think we made a mistake by being silent about it and that was our decency but people have started taking advantage of that. I think we made a mistake by thinking that ‘our work will speak for ourselves. You know you don't always need to get your hand dirty but I guess we tolerated it a lot and now people have made this a habit."
