Anurag Kashyap talks about making of Daryaa song for Manmarziyaan

Taapsee Pannu, Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal starrer got the audience polarised. While some loved it, others came out with mixed feelings. But one thing that viewers and critics sang unanimous praises of, was its unparalleled music album of this Anurag Kashyap dirocterial movie.   The soundtrack grabbed top spots in almost all music charts and went on to become the 'on-loop' album for months to come. But while people preferred different songs, it was Daryaa that became the nation's collective favourite within no time.

The song Daryaa was  sung by Ammy Virk and Shahid Mallya, the song was composed by Amit Trivedi and the soulful lyrics were penned by Shellee. Months after the film, Trivedi has opened up about all that went into the making of the song and for ones.

In an interview with Rajeev Masand, Trivedi revealed the connection between Ammy Virk's popular song, Qismat and the Manmarziyaan song, Daryaa. When Anurag Kashyap, the film's director, shot the song, he'd added Qismat for reference and sent the footage to Trivedi.  “I told him this song is beautiful, why don't we buy this and use this. He said, 'No, we need to create something better than this and I was like, oh that's a challenge now'."

Sharing that Daryaa was one of the last few songs from the album, Trivedi said that the “process was beautiful and amazing.”
