Being a famous Director and Actor of Bollywood Anurag Kashyap is now entering the Tamil industry marks Nayanthara’s Imaikka Nodigal. Although he was last seen in A.R. Murugadoss’s hit film “Akira” in a strong role of ACP, Anurag had said in a statement that in this movie his role is not going to be typical baddie, he is going to play a character called Rudra. According to director Ajay Gnanamuthu, Anurag’s character will be the focal point of the film, which also stars Atharvaa Murali and Raashi Khanna. Initially, the director had recommended Gautham Menon in the role but it was his mentor Murugadoss who suggested Anurag’s name for the role.

“When we were looking for a suitable replacement, I loved Anurag Kashyap’s screen presence in Akira. Later, we approached Anurag through my guru Murugadoss. After a few minutes of my narration, Anurag sir said he would play the antagonist in my film. His character will be the epicentre of Imaikkaa Nodigal,” Gnanamuthu said in an interview. The director said Anurag, despite being a popular director, had no pang over acting in the film.

While talking about his role as Rudra in the movie, Anurag Kashyap said in a statement: “What pulled me towards acting in Imaikaa Nodigal is the role. Rudra is not your typical baddie. He doesn’t just smoke, drink, order his men around and indulge in item numbers. He is menacing, scary, smart and cunning. This strange mixture that forms the role is what tempted me to take it up although I was tied up with my own projects back in Mumbai. When the audiences watch the movie in theatre, if I’m able to evoke the tiniest of fears in them, as Rudra, I’ll consider my work done.”

The director Ajay was selected to contest in the Short Film making show, Naalaya Iyakunar (2010) and continued being a finalists. He then joined acclaimed Filmmaker AR Murugadoss and worked in Tamil films 7aum Arivu and Thuppakki. His pursuit to be an independent filmmaker succeeded with the release of Demonte Colony in 2015 that became a box-office hit.
