Ladakh: Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur today, April 28, said that the launch of 91 FM transmitters is a historic step, and it will help in transmitting the information. "This is really a historic move. This will be very helpful in transmitting sports, entertainment, and farming information to the local people. Mann Ki Baat increased the popularity of radio", the Union Minister said,  while speaking at the launch of 91 FM transmitters in Leh.

He said that another record has been established with the world's highest transmitter installed at an altitude of 4,100 in Ladakh's Nyoma. "Today another record has been set up. Nyoma has the world's highest transmitter at an altitude of 4,100. Its benefit is going to be available for many kilometers. Our people will also get the facility of FM, listen to programs, get news and an opportunity to take forward their culture," the minister said.

The 91 new 100 Watt FM transmitters that had been deployed earlier in 84 districts across 18 States and 2 Union Territories were virtually inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated during the inauguration of 91 FM transmitters that the national government has been working to democratise technology in the nation.  "Our government is constantly working towards the democratisation of technology," the prime minister declared. Technology should be accessible and affordable to every individual. The goal of All India Radio is to unite the country. Access to information is now more widely available thanks to the low cost of mobile devices and data subscriptions.

PM Modi continued by stating that he has a passionate listening and hosting relationship with radio and FM. "Today, this growth of All India Radio's FM service is a significant step towards becoming All India FM. The commencement of All India Radio's 91 FM transmissions is comparable to giving 2 crore people in 85 districts of the nation a gift, the PM stated.
