The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Monday declared a 36-hour Itanagar Capital Complex (ICC) bandh on January 13, reiterating its prior demand for Chief Minister Pema Khandu's resignation.

ANYA had charged that Pema Khandu was facing many corruption charges on December 10, 2021, and had sent a representation to the State Government, setting a 15-day deadline for explanation. After the State Government failed to give any clarification on the claim, ANYA set a seven-day deadline for the Chief Minister's resignation on December 30.

ANYA president Byabang Joram told the media at the press club here that the association has no choice but to launch a democratic movement of a 36-hour ICC bandh in response to the State Government's prolonged silence on the issue. He stated that the association has yet to receive a positive reaction from the State Government on the matter, and that the deliberate silence is seen to prove the ancient saying "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."

"ANYA is willing to call off the proposed bandh call if the State Government answers its demands before the bandh day," Joram stated in response to a question. If there is any tragic violence during the bandh, the government will be held accountable "declared the president of the ANYA

Exams for school students taking place during the bandh would be excused " he Added.
