The last time 10 wickets were taken in first-class cricket was in the Duleep Trophy in 2001 before Ejaz Patel's surprise feat at Wankhede.

Former India pacer Debashish Mohanty performed this feat at that time. Mohanty took all 10 wickets in the first innings of the match between East Zone and South Zone at Agartala. In that match, Mohanty also picked up the wickets of Rahul Dravid and Javagal Srinath, who were playing for South Zone.
