Apple has introduced a new feature that allows users to transfer their purchased content, like apps, music, and movies, from one account to another.
What’s New?
Previously, Apple only allowed users to share purchases through Family Sharing. Now, people who have multiple Apple IDs for different services can move their purchases to one main account.
Users have been asking for this feature for years. Apple has finally made it possible, but there are some rules and restrictions.
Who Can Use It?
Both accounts must be in the same country or region.
Two-factor authentication must be turned on.
A valid payment method is required.
This feature is not available in the UK, India, or the EU.
Purchases from deleted, locked, or disabled accounts cannot be transferred.
The primary account must have at least one download or purchase.
How to Move Your Purchases
Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap on your Apple Account name.
Select Purchases and Media.
Scroll down and tap Migrate Purchases.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
Apple will send a confirmation email when the transfer is done. After that, the secondary account can no longer be used for new purchases.
Can You Reverse the Process?
Yes! Apple allows users to undo the transfer if needed. More details can be found on Apple’s official support page.
This new update makes managing Apple purchases much easier while still keeping security in place.
If you switch back to your secondary Apple Account, your music library, personalization settings, social profile, and Apple Music Replay from the primary account will move to it. But if the secondary account did not have any of this data before, it will stay linked to the primary account.
The same applies to your podcast library in the Apple Podcasts app. When you switch, the podcast library from the primary account will move back to the secondary account. However, if the secondary account didn’t have any podcast data before, it will remain with the primary account.
