Apple plans iPhone for Japan;includes tap-to-pay feature

According to the Bloomberg, “taking public transportation in Japan just got a little easier, as future iPhones look set to include FeliCa technology, a mobile tap-to-pay system”

Sony developed ‘FeliCa chip will permit users in Japan to store their train and bus passes on their iPhones. In its place of by traditional transit cards, clients will be able to tap their phones next to the scanners at transport turnstiles.

FeliCa chip can route a transaction in 0.1 seconds and can also store e-money, a type of electric currency that has become widely accepted at vending machines, cafes and convenience stores in Japan.

Apple plans to launch the new feature in its next iPhone models, to be revealed in September, which looks to give the company a further improve. Already, Japan represents 8 % of the company's total profits.
