Apple's Self Service Repair programme, based in Cupertino, allows consumers to purchase authentic Apple device components and equipment to repair their devices. Users can choose to fix their Apple goods themselves or have them repaired by a local professional, according to Apple's Self Service Repair programme. Apple has thus far made it impossible for anybody other than company-authorized experts to fix its devices.

This Apple Self Service Repair programme does not cover all Apple devices. The self-repair application is only available for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, as well as Mac computers with Apple's M1 chipset. As of yet, Apple has not specified any iPads as part of the initiative. Early next year, Apple will offer an online store for self-service repairs. The website will include more than 200 distinct components and tools for doing simple repairs on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 devices, according to the company. The program's first phase will concentrate on the most regularly serviced modules, such as the display, battery, and camera. Later in 2022, more repairs will be accessible.

Users will also be able to take these Apple-supplied original components to be repaired by others. The repair effort will begin early next year with the United States. Apple has stated that the service would be expanded to other countries during 2022, implying that the Apple Self Service Repair programme may arrive in India later that year.

Because of its habit of locking down its software so that parts are encoded to a certain device, Apple has long been a target for right-to-repair proponents. Some attempted fixes have rendered phones inoperable, such as replacing a damaged original screen with a third-party screen. Although Apple's adjustments are limited, it is nonetheless seen as a significant step forward.
