MUMBAI: Apple on April 17 unveiled its first retail store in India, aimed at reaching out to more buyers who prefer the touch-and-feel experience.

The retail location, which is located in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), will start taking walk-in customers on April 18. On April 20, Apple will do the same by opening a second physical location in New Delhi's Saket Mall.  The store will also serve as a service centre, although customers must make an appointment for that.

The store, dubbed The Apple BKC, will sell a range of Apple products, including iPhones, MacBooks, iPads, Watches, accessories and Apple TV. The store will also serve as a service centre, although customers must make an appointment for that.

When it comes to further expansion in India, where Samsung has a strong retail presence, Apple withheld any information.

Deirdre O'Brien, senior vice president of retail at Apple, stated, "At Apple, our customers are at the centre of everything we do, and our teams are eager to celebrate this amazing milestone with them as we open our first retail store in India.

More than 100 staff members of Apple BKC speak more than 20 different languages amongst them.

Customers can place online orders for the products and pick them up at the Apple shop in BKC. The trade-in facility will be available as well.
