Apple unveils the M2-powered MacBook Pro and Mac mini

New Delhi: Cupertino-based technology company Apple has unveiled the 2023 MacBook Pro and Mac mini. The former is available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes and is powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets from Intel.

Meanwhile, the Mac mini has the same design as its predecessor and is powered by the M2/M2 Pro processor. MacBook and Mac Mini starting at Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 59,900 respectively.

Compared to their predecessors, the 2023 MacBook Pro and Mac mini have improved performance and battery life. Both devices are powered by Apple's latest M2 chip and showcase the company's commitment to move away from using Intel processors in its devices. It remains to be seen whether the pair manages to attract buyers or not.

Like its predecessor, the 2023 MacBook Pro features an aluminum body, a backlit keyboard, a larger trackpad, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, and a Touch ID fingerprint reader.

The device flaunts a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with a pixel density of 254ppi. A 16.2-inch screen (3456x2244 pixels) variant is also available. Pixel density is the same.

The 2023 MacBook Pro has three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI port that supports up to 8K display out, an SDXC card slot, a MagSafe 3 charging port, and a headphone jack for I/O. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 are the wireless connectivity options of the device.

The M2 Pro/M2 Max chipset powers the 2023 MacBook Pro. There's up to 96GB of RAM and up to 8TB of onboard SSD storage. It runs macOS Ventura and packs up to 22 hours of battery life on the 16-inch variant with a 100Wh battery. The laptop also includes a six-speaker sound system as well as studio-quality microphones.

The design of the Mac Mini with a silver finish is boxy. This device is equipped with M2 / M2 Pro processor, up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of SSD storage. It can have up to three displays (two 6K/60Hz and one 4K/60Hz) or a single 8K display.

Two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a headphone jack, an Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports have been provided.

14-inch MacBook Pro starts at Rs. 2 lakh in India, while the 16-inch model starts at Rs. 2.5 lakhs. Meanwhile, the new Mac mini with the M2 chip is priced at Rs. 59,900, while the model with the M2 Pro processor is priced at Rs. 1.3 lakhs. Bookings for the devices are now open and sales will begin on January 24.
