USA: Undoubtedly living up to its name, the Apple Watch Ultra would be hard to skip in our ranking of the best smartwatches. Given that it has a completely new design, bigger display, and more sensors than the Apple Watch Series 8.

It represents the most significant update to Apple's smartwatch lineup to date. The resulting smartwatch is designed for fans of extreme sports, activities and environments and has advanced capabilities.

It's clear that the Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Series 8 feature and design similarities. The Apple Watch Series 8 got a bigger display and a new temperature sensor this year.

The only Apple Watch model sold exclusively with cellular connectivity, the Watch Ultra is a very different model, though. This inclusion alone explains why the Watch Ultra costs more.

The fact that this model is always connected says a lot about how it can be used: constantly, in situations where you wouldn't even want to carry the phone. According to Anshel Saag, principal analyst at Moore Insights & Strategies, the cellular advantage is clear.

While every smartwatch has some degree of smartphone integration, cellular-connected watches function almost completely independently of your phone. However, cellular watches also require a smartphone for initial setup and configuration. This last point restricts the Watch Ultra's audience to iPhone users.

Additionally, this is the first Apple Watch to be offered in titanium only, which was done to reduce the weight of the larger device.

Fans of extreme sports and outdoor adventures will enjoy the Watch Ultra's titanium finish, tough design, and activity-focused features.
