New Delhi:- Lower-division NASCAR driver Sean Hingorani, who made his final appearance in the sanctions authority's ARCA Menards Series, was given a one-race suspension for intentionally destroying another car on the track.
To make matters worse, the driver with whom Hingorani crashed was his Venturini Motorsport teammate Dean Thompson. Both Hingorani and Thompson have competed part-time in his ARCA Series, three divisions below him in his Major Cup series on NASCAR's domestic development ladder.
The problems between the two started mid-race when Hingorani tried to lead Thompson to the final corner at Mid-Ohio. He went off the track and spun, retiring from the race.

Incidents like this in tight competition for positions are common in NASCAR, especially in the lower ranks, and unless the intent is clear, they usually don't get penalties. What Hingorani does next is the cause of the problem.
Thompson dropped back to second on the final lap, but Hingorani was completely off the pace. 16-year-old Hingorani, who had just started his fourth domestic ARCA race in history, slowed his pace, falling a lap behind, and found Thompson, 21, on track. With the last few corners of the race, he deliberately drove Thompson into a sand bed and abandoned his car.

Both are part-timers for Venturini and neither are in contention for the championship, so this is not a typical mishap between teammates. Hingorani's part-time status also means that an actual race suspension in Iowa is virtually irrelevant to him. He wasn't going to race anyway. Ruining a teammate is always a big mistake, regardless of the circumstances. Intentional destruction should lead to bigger career problems than a one-race suspension.
