Argentine government has "no doubt" that it will fulfil the targets agreed upon with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for its second technical review, Argentine Presidential spokesperson Gabriela Cerruti said on Thursday.

"Despite all the doomsayers, the first review is going quite well," she said.  "The second review will proceed in the same manner. Everything is progressing as planned by the authorities." According to reports, the Argentine government and the IMF approved a set of goals in March to address a USD44.5 billion debt.

They are linked to a reduction in Argentina's fiscal deficit, the progressive elimination of the Central Bank's Treasury support, and an increase in international reserves. 

Quarterly assessments are required as part of the agreement's execution, with fulfilment supported by additional IMF credit disbursements. The primary deficit should be reduced by 2.5 percent of GDP in 2022, then 1.9 percent in 2023, and 0.9 percent in 2024, according to the macroeconomic goals.
