Nissan Motor Co's Ariya, a new electric SUV availability will be delayed as per the reports. The coronavirus pandemic have already suspended or postponed many major activities across the world. This time also due to the coronavirus wreak havoc and a global shortage of chips, a senior executive at the carmaker announced delay of new model said on Friday.

The giant carmaker last year made an announcement that it had planned to begin sales of the Ariya in Japan from mid-2021. But the rollout of the limited model in Japan has been pushed to "this winter." This information was confirmed by executive vice president Asako Hoshino itself to reporters. The Ariya is Nissan's first brand-new EV in almost a decade after the Leaf hatchback, which made its mark as the world's first mass-market electric vehicle. The electric SUV will also be sold in China but no specific timeline has been disclosed yet.

Additionally, Ariya is Nissan’s first new electric vehicle in more than 10 years, excluding its Chinese business. Its first all-electric vehicle, the Leaf hatchback, was launched in 2010 as the first mass-produced EV.
