New Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat is on the second day of visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He had arrived in Srinagar yesterday. On Friday, he took stock of the security situation in the valley. Today, he will go to the areas adjoining the Line of Control (LoC). According to the information, he will meet residents of the areas adjoining the LOC today who are victims of the ceasefire violation by Pakistan.

This is the first visit of Army Chief General Bipin Rawat to Jammu and Kashmir after the withdrawal of Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. During the visit, he will review the security situation in Srinagar and the preparedness of the security forces to deal with the situation in the valley. After National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, Army Chief Rawat is the first Chief Security Officer to reach Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of security. Since the removal of Section 370, phone and internet services were suspended in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, which is now being gradually introduced.

Pakistan has been badly hit by the removal of Section 370 by the Modi government from Jammu and Kashmir. Since India abolished Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, Pakistan has been violating the ceasefire at the border almost 10 times a day. Pakistan has been firing about 222 ceasefire violations since August 5. On the other hand, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire 1900 times from January till August 29.
