New Delhi: On the 74th Army Day of the country, Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary paid floral tributes to the martyrs at the National War Memorial in the national capital Delhi today. Every year, on this day, Indian army personnel who selflessly served the country and set a wonderful example of brotherhood are felicitated.
Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane also inspected the parade at Cariappa Parade Ground on the occasion. Referring to Pakistan's nefarious plots, he said, "The neighbouring country is helpless by its habit of harbouring terrorists. About 300-400 terrorists are trying to infiltrate into the cross-border training camp.' He said, 'There is also an attempt to smuggle weapons by drone from across the border.'
He said, "Our mutual cooperation with neighbouring countries has increased further during the crisis of corona epidemic. The Indian Army has been instrumental in the UN peacekeeping operation since its inception. More than 5,000 personnel of our army are still deployed in separate peacekeeping missions that are giving the country a distinct identity.' On the confrontation with China, the Army Chief said, 'Last year has been challenging for the army due to the standoff on the border with China. The recent 14th talks discussed several points to keep the situation under control.'
