Army Day of Nepal: Indian Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat attends 250th year of Unification

Kathmandu [Nepal], Feb 13 (NT): Indian Army chief of staff General Bipin Rawat landed in the Kathmandu late on Monday to be present at the Army Day of Nepal.

For this time Nepal will mark its' Army Day on the day of Shivaratri on Tuesday, the festival which is devoted to Lord Shiva.

Nepalese on Tuesday will be celebrating its 250th year of union as a nation. This was initiated by the late King Prithvi Narayan Shah.

General Rawat is now on a three-day visit and He is invited by his Nepali counterpart Rajendra Chhetri. Rawat will be among the chief guests at the Nepal Army Day parade at Tundikhel playground in central Kathmandu.

This year, the Indian Army band will also perform together with the Nepalese Armed force, to mark the Nepal Army Day.

After attending the parade, General Rawat will have a courtesy call on the President of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister of Nepal, Sher Bahadur Deuba and Defence Minister of Nepal, Bhimsen Das Pradhan.

In 2017 General Rawat was bestowed with the title of honorary general of the Nepal Army by President Bhandari.
