JAMMU KASHMIR: Army forces have opened fire after spotting a Pakistani drone and suspected terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. The drone was targeted and retreated after being shot at, while the individuals attempting infiltration fled towards Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. A search operation is currently underway to ensure no suspicious items are left behind.
According to officials, the Army troops detected movement of a Pakistani drone and suspected individuals at two separate locations along the LoC in Rajouri district. The drone was observed in a forward area in Sunderbani, while suspicious movement of individuals, believed to be terrorists, was noticed in the Keri sector during the night between Sunday and Monday.
Troops fired at least four rounds to shoot down the Pakistani quadcopter as soon as it entered Indian territory. However, it quickly returned to the other side of the LoC upon facing gunfire. Additionally, troops fired rounds upon detecting suspicious movement of individuals attempting to infiltrate from across the border in the Keri sector, but they managed to escape towards Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
A thorough search operation has been launched to ensure no drone dropping or any other suspicious items are left behind by the suspected individuals. The operation is ongoing as of the latest reports.
