Dehradun: 4 soldiers were killed after being hit by an avalanche in Siachen Glacier on Monday. Two porter also lost their lives. The condition of the two other jawans is still in critical  and all of them have been kept under medical supervision. The Siachen Glacier is considered to be the highest battlefield in the world. According to the same military spokesperson, eight employees working in the northern sector of Siachen Glacier at the height of 19 thousand feet were hit by avalanche. On rescue, the rescue team was sent to the spot from a nearby post. Eight people buried in snow were taken by helicopter to the nearby military hospital. Seven of them were in critical condition. Six died during treatment. These include four jawans and two porter, who succumbed to snow for long. All the outposts went to evacuate another sick person. Sources said that the soldiers of six Dogra battalions posted on patrolling duty died due to avalanche between Kazi and Bana Post.

Army deployment was made in 984: According to the information received, India started deployment of army in 1984 in Siachen, the world's highest war zone. Actually, during this time Pakistan was sent by sending its troops and tried to capture it. Since then, there is a continuous deployment of soldiers here.

On an average, two soldiers are killed every month. Martyrs: If we talk about the same, then on an average, two soldiers die every month due to avalanche or adverse weather in Siachen. Since 1984, more than 900 soldiers have been martyred.
