New Delhi: In the midst of tension from China, India is engaged in smoothening the way to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in every way. The Army Chief has said many times that the Indian Army is ready to face any kind of challenge. At the same time, in order to ease the way to Ladakh, the government has also given permission to the tunnel connecting Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh. This tunnel will be 4.1 km long.

According to the report, the Manali-Darcha-Padam-Neemu Axis will be at an altitude of 16,500 feet to carry weapons and army vehicles. This place is away from the reach of Pakistan and China, in such a situation the traffic can be done without any danger. Army can be easily sent to the forward area through this tunnel. According to media reports, an official has informed that the Border Roads Organization will construct this tunnel at a cost of 1681.5 crores. Its work will be completed by December 2025.

The Ministry of Defense had given the green signal to this scheme in 2021 itself. However, the work could not start due to the ongoing tussle between the Border Roads Organization (BRO) and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). While BRO wanted to build a smaller tunnel, NHIDCL had already proposed a 13 km-long tunnel.
