Washington: 20 years ago, the United States was shaken by dangerous terror attacks. September 11, 2001, is recorded as a dark day in US history. The world's most massive terror attack took place on this day, killing 2,997 people. The then US President George Bush described the incident as the darkest day in American history. No one has forgotten the morning of September 11, 2001, when, as usual, about 18,000 employees were engaged in day-to-day work at the World Trend Centre, one of the world's tallest buildings, but at 8:46 a.m., something happened that still sounds, it was a blood bath in the morning.

On that day, 19 Al Qaeda militants hijacked 4 passenger aircraft and deliberately crashed two of them into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, killing all the people on board and thousands of people working inside the building. The aircraft from which the attack took place had a speed of more than 987.6 km/hr. Both buildings collapsed within two hours, nearby buildings were destroyed and others were damaged.  They then crashed the third plane into the Pentagon outside Washington DC, in Arlington, Virginia. After some passengers and flight crew of the fourth aircraft targeted towards Washington DC tried to regain control of the aircraft, the plane crashed into a field near Shanksville in rural Pennsylvania. However, none of the aircraft survived.

The horrific attack killed 2,997 people, including 400 police officers and firefighters. Citizens of 57 countries were among the dead. The entire building was reduced to rubble within about 2 hours. Of the victims, only 291 were bodies that could be identified properly. After the attack, Indian traders bought thousands of tonnes of debris for about Rs 23 crore. The iron and steel from it were recycled and used in new buildings. Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden was behind the tragic attack. The US then took retaliation and dumped Osama in Abbottabad, Pakistan, on May 2, 2011. However, it took a full 10 years. After 13 years, the new building was opened for work.
