New Delhi: The name of heroine Rani Lakshmibai is also included in the revolution of 1857, which soured the teeth of the British. Rani Lakshmi Bai was born on 19 November 1835. Her childhood name was Manikarnika. Although she was fondly called Manu. Her mother was Bhagirathi Bai. Moropant Tambe was Marathi and was involved in the service of Maratha Bajirao. Mata Bhagirathbai was a woman of cultured, intelligent, and religious thoughts. Rani Lakshmi Bai's mother went to heaven leaving Manu when she was only four years old.

After this Manu started going to the court of his father Peshwa Bajirao II. Peshwa was greatly influenced by Manu. She had taken the education of scriptures and weapons. In the year 1842, she was married to Gangadhar Rao Newalkar, the Maratha-ruled king of Jhansi, she was made the queen of Jhansi. After marriage, her name became Lakshmi Bai. Gangadhar Rao was the king of Jhansi, in such a situation, Rani Laxmibai was called the queen of Jhansi. In the year 1851, she gave birth to a son. But he died in four months.

In the year 1853, the health of Raja Gangadhar Rao deteriorated. In such a situation, Rani Lakshmi Bai adopted a son. Gangadhar Rao died on 21 November 1853. In such a situation, Rani Lakshmi Bai took over the reign of Jhansi by making her adopted son the successor of power, understanding the trick of the British monarchy. The British authorities confiscated the state treasury. The British government even issued an order to deduct Gangadhar Rao's debt from the annual expenditure of the queen. In 1857 there was a rebellion against the British Raj power. Many brave hearts including Tatya Tope, Bahadur Shah Zafar, and Rani Lakshmi Bai participated in this rebellion. Heroes like Mangal Pandey also contributed to this incendiary revolution. The British wanted to bring Jhansi under their control. In 1858, the British started trying to move towards Jhansi.

In such a situation, the city was besieged in the month of March. After two weeks of fighting, the British captured the city. Rani Lakshmi Bai somehow managed to escape. She captured the fort of Gwalior with the help of rebel soldiers of Gwalior, taking Tatya Tope with her. But later she rode on a horse to escape from the British. She tied her adopted son Damodar on her back and jumped down from the fort of Gwalior along with her horse. On 18 June 1858, the Rani of Jhansi attained martyrdom while fighting the British in the Kota Sarai area near Gwalior.
