New Delhi: Today is the death anniversary of Munshi Premchandra, the story emperor of India. The simplicity on the face and the glow on the forehead were witnessed. The pages of the history of India in which the name of this great man is recorded. Munshi Premchandra, the story writer who is called the identity of Hindi literature and the ocean of stories, became famous not only in India but all over the world.

It was his personality to present the suffering of the common people with words and present them very beautifully. This is the reason why Premchand's works are in the heart of Hindi literature. Born in a simple village, Premchand's real name was Dhanpat Rai. He was born on July 31, 1880, in a village called Lamhi, a few miles away from the city of Banaras. On the suggestion of his friend Dayanarayan, he named himself Premchand. His father's name was Munshi Ajaib Lal, his father used to hold the post of Munshi in the post office. At the age of 6, he was sent to the maulvi's house in Lalganj village to learn Persian and Urdu. At a very young age, his mother died.

In the midst of all this, he got the caress of his elder sister, but after the sister's departure, Premchand was left alone in four walls and engaged himself in stories. Starting from here and Premchand became a great famous storyteller while writing the story. Premchand also worked as a teacher during which he was transferred to many places. There were many depths like a tsunami in the ocean of his life and sacrificed his entire life in name of literature Hindi. There came a day when Premchand, a huge emperor of 300 stories and 14 big novels, died on October 8, 1936, at the age of 56.

Premchand has many popular compositions – Mantra, Nasha, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Poos Ki Raat, Atmaram, Burhi Kaki, Bade Bhaisaheb, Bade Ghar Ki Beti, Kafan, Borrowed Watch, Namak Ka Daroga, Panch Phool, Prem Purnima, Fined etc. His novels are- Gaban, Bazar-e-Husn (in Urdu), Seva Sadan, Godan, Karmabhoomi, Kayakalp, Manorama, Nirmala, Pratigya, Premashram, Rangbhoomi, Vardan, Prema and Mangal-Sutra (Incomplete).
