Doctor Homi Jehangir Bhabha is first identified as the father of India's nuclear power program. He was not only the best scientist but he was also rich in versatility. Dr Bhabha's personality was such that Nobel laureate C.V. Raman used to call him as Leonardo the Vinci of India. Today is the birth anniversary of Doctor Bhabha.

Dr Homi Jahangir Bhabha laid a strong foundation for the future form of the country's nuclear program, due to which India today stands in the queue of the world's major nuclear-rich countries. He was born on 30 October 1909 in a wealthy Parsi family in Mumbai. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Physics 5 times, but unfortunately, he could not get the world's highest honour in science. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan.

On 24 January 1966, Homi Jahangir Bhabha was flying from Mumbai to New York via Flight Number 101 of Air India. Air India's Boeing 707 aircraft of the trip met an accident near Mount Blanc hills. All 117 passengers on board, including Dr Bhabha, died in the accident. It is also said that this plane was crashed by the US agency CIA to stop India's nuclear campaign. However, this could not be proved and the death of Homi Bhabha remains a mystery.
