International Chess Day is celebrated all over the world on July 20, when the International Chess Federation (FIDE) was established on. July 20, 1924, it was suggested by UNESCO as The International Chess Day. Since 1966, July 20 is celebrated as International Chess Day every year.

The day is celebrated with great enthusiasm by 185 members of the International Chess Federation, which organizes chess competitions at many places. International Chess Day was organized in 178 countries in 2013. There are over 60 million regular chess players worldwide.

According to a survey, 70 percent of the world's adults must have played chess at some stage or the other. The International Chess Federation was established on July 20, 1924, headquartered in Athens, Greece. At present, 185 countries are members of it. It serves as the governing body for organizing international chess competitions. Chess is also known as a mind game, by playing it you can sharp your brain.
