New Delhi: Irfan Pathan was not only a good bowler in any era but also an excellent all-rounder of an Indian team. Irfan has carved a niche for himself from Vadodara in Gujarat. Though he has been away from Team India for the past few years, he is still performing in Ranji. Pathan's father used to sweep the mosque and his salary was Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 in those days.

Obviously, Irfan did not have enough money to buy cricket related materials. Irfan often bought second-hand shoes from his nearby market and came home and sewed them himself. Pathan's favourite sport is kite flying which he does with great interest. Irfan Pathan was only 19 years old when he started his international career in the Adelaide Test against Australia in December 2003. But gradually he started making his way into the team, Pathan made a splash on the tour of Pakistan and from there he became India's leading bowler.

Pathan's stars were rising with every passing match. Pathan had become India's strike bowler. In ODIs too, he hit the wickets. Pathan made a record of taking 100 wickets in 59 matches during this period. To date, Pathan is the fastest bowler to take 100 wickets from India. Irfan Pathan is also the one who scored the second hat-trick in Test cricket for India. Pathan did this feat against Pakistan in a test match played in Karachi in 2006.
