New Delhi: National Pollution Control Day is celebrated in memory of those who died in the Bhopal gas tragedy. The day is celebrated every year on December 2 in India to honour and remember those dead. The Bhopal gas tragedy occurred on the night of December 2 and 3 in 1984 due to leakage of poisonous chemicals known as methyl isocyanate (MIC) as well as other chemicals from Union Carbide's chemical plant in the city.

In fact, the air we are breathing in is poisonous, containing ozone, nitrogen dioxide, fine particles, diesel particles. These poisonous particles sit in our lungs and are damaging our lungs. Air pollution (National Pollution Control Day 2021) levels have reached dangerous conditions, so it is important that we consume things in our diet that clean our lungs.

Green leafy vegetables not only protect against pollution (National Pollution Control Day 2021) but are considered extremely beneficial for the body. Green vegetables, coriander leaves, cabbage and turnip contain vitamins that help protect against air pollution.

Turmeric has been used as a therapeutic herb since ancient times. Active agent curcumin present in turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties that protect the lungs from the toxic effects of pollutants. Turmeric also contains powerful antioxidants that protect the body from oxidative stress, which is induced when exposed to polluted air.

Avoiding pollution (National Pollution Control Day 2021), you must consume amla, as it contains a good amount of vitamin C. Vitamin C is the most powerful antioxidant for the body, which can help in cleaning free radicals.
