New Delhi: Arun Jaitley earned a lot of name in his life. As a lawyer, leader and cricket administrator, he got his iron everywhere. Jaitley, who played inter-class cricket at Sriram College of Commerce, became a member and pattern of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) in 1998. The following year, he became the President of the DDCA and remained in office till December 2013. He was vice-chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for several years and was a member of the BCCI's Executive Steering Council from 2008 to 2015.
As Jaitley headed the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, many Delhi cricketers like Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, and Akash Chopra shined on the international stage. Jaitley's position in the BCCI can be gauged from the fact that the CONSTITUTION of the BCCI on the post of Chairman in 2012 was amended to ensure that top BJP leader Jaitley becomes the head of the board in 2014.
In 2014, former BCCI President and current International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Shashank Manohar had revealed that the CONSTITUTION of the BCCI was amended in 2012. However, for this reason, Jaitley was also involved in controversies. Arun Jaitley had given his official residence for the wedding of former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag. The wedding was attended by a number of celebrities from sports, Bollywood, and politics. So the relationship between Jaitley and Sehwag was very intimate.
