A senior Health Department official said that the Covid-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh increased to 56,633 on Monday after 140 more people tested positive for the infection, 126 fewer than the previous day.

On Sunday, Arunachal Pradesh reported 266 Covid cases, the highest number in the state this month. According to the official, 77 new cases were recorded in the Capital Complex Region, 15 in Changlang, 13 in West Kameng, and six each in Lower Subansiri and Papumpare districts.

Tirap reported five new cases, followed by Tawang and Kamle with four each, Dibang Valley, Namsai, and Lower Dibang Valley with three each, and Lohit with one.

According to State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa, two Army troops and a health care worker are among the new cases. He said the death toll in the state remained at 282 since no new fatalities had been reported in the last 24 hours.
