NEW DELHI: Delhi On Friday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked the Centre to take the lead in reducing air pollution because he described it as an "issue" that affects all of north India, not just the national capital.

The central government cannot continue to fall behind. The Center will need to take the initiative and lead. From Bhiwandi in Rajasthan to Bettiah and Motihari in Bihar, the situation with the air quality is getting worse. The issue affects all of North India. At a press conference, he said, "To deal with it, we need to meet across the table and find a solution.

Chief Minister Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann were speaking at a joint press conference about the worsening air pollution.

In Delhi, the air quality has deteriorated significantly, making it harder for people to breathe. It has various facets and affects all of North India, he said.

"Everywhere, from Delhi to Dadri, Jind, Manesar, and Faridabad, the conditions are dire. Not just the Aam Aadmi Party is to blame for this. One state's air does not only remain there. To reduce pollution, the government must take action, according to Kejriwal.

"We concur that Punjabi farmers are not to blame for the burning of stubble. Rather, it is us and our governments. We have only been in power in Punjab for a little more than six months, which is a very short time. We put a lot of effort into this; some of the steps may or may not have been successful. Burning of stubble will be less by the next year. However, we don't want to engage in a blame game because we bear some of the blame, Kejriwal added.

The stubble is not something that farmers want to burn. The Punjab Chief Minister stated that because there is only a ten to twelve-day between the crops of paddy and wheat, in such a situation burning the stubble is the only option they have.

"By November of next year, we can solve it. We have made a lot of efforts to prohibit the burning of the stubble, but it is not just our job, therefore the federal government and the state government has to meet jointly. As the chief minister of Punjab, I also promise and accept responsibility, CM Mann said.
