The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi govt has once again sent the proposal of “doorstep delivery of ration” scheme to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, according to media reports.

In June, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, citing a lack of clearance from the Centre and an ongoing court case involving the scheme,  had rejected the Delhi government's proposal for the launch of its flagship "doorstep delivery of ration" scheme,

Earlier on October 1, the Delhi High Court has given an approval to the Delhi Government to divert ration delivery to cardholders at doorsteps if there is no shortage in fair price shops. Delhi CM had earlier informed the Lieutenant Governor that all objections raised by the Centre have been corrected, and asked why the scheme was being discontinued, even though the High Court has not put a stay on it.

The scheme was originally termed the Mukhya Mantri Ghar Ghar Ration Yojana(MMGGRY) but was later dropped after a notification on March 9 by the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs that stated that subsidised foodgrains allocated for distribution under the NFS Act cannot be used for schemes under a different name.
