NEW DELHI: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has welcomed the Centre's decision to remove Section 370 on Monday. Kejriwal has said that he hopes the new government proposal will bring peace and momentum to development in the state. In a tweet, Kejriwal said, "We support the government's decision on Jammu and Kashmir. It is hoped that the new proposal of the government will bring peace and momentum to development in the state."

It is worth mentioning here that the Central government on Monday moved a motion to remove Section 370 of the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha. This section gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. According to the proposal, J&K will be divided into two parts. While Jammu and Kashmir will be a union territory, Ladakh will be another union territory, but Ladakh will not have an assembly.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in the Rajya Sabha that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will have an assembly but there will be no assembly in Ladakh. Amit Shah said, the move has been taken in view of the threat of terrorism across the border. The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned for some time following uproar over Amit Shah's statement.
