Aryna Sabalenka made waves at the Australian Open by defending her title in impressive fashion, becoming the first woman in over ten years to achieve this feat. The Belarusian powerhouse dominated her opponent, Zheng Qinwen of China, in a commanding display of skill and determination.

Sabalenka, ranked second in the world, overwhelmed the 12th seed with a swift 6-3, 6-2 victory in just 76 minutes on Rod Laver Arena. Throughout the tournament, Sabalenka showcased her dominance, not dropping a single set in all seven matches played.

The last time a woman successfully defended her title at the Australian Open was in 2013, when Victoria Azarenka, also from Belarus, accomplished the milestone. Sabalenka's recent triumph further solidifies her status as a top contender in Grand Slam tournaments, having reached the semi-finals in her last six majors, with three final appearances and two victories.

With her powerful groundstrokes and consistent serve, Sabalenka left Zheng struggling to keep up. Despite Zheng's impressive journey to her first Grand Slam final, having not faced any seeded players earlier in the tournament, she couldn't match Sabalenka's level of play.

The match began with Sabalenka breaking Zheng's serve early on, setting the tone for her dominance. Though Zheng showed glimpses of her potential, she struggled to handle Sabalenka's powerful serves and precise shots.

Despite some resistance from Zheng, Sabalenka remained in control, eventually sealing the first set in just 33 minutes. In the second set, Sabalenka continued her relentless pressure, quickly securing a break to take a commanding lead.

Though Zheng fought valiantly, saving multiple championship points, Sabalenka ultimately emerged victorious, claiming her 14th career title. Despite the loss, Zheng's impressive performance throughout the tournament will see her rise into the top 10 in the upcoming world rankings.

Sabalenka's historic win at the Australian Open cements her status as one of the game's brightest stars, leaving fans eagerly anticipating her future performances on the court.
