Kolkata: A unique initiative has now been launched to increase the pace of blood donation and vaccination in West Bengal. In fact, hospitals and blood donation organizations here have started donating blood and in return the Guarantee Pao campaign of corona vaccination slots has been launched. Recently, Group CEO of AMRI Hospital Roopak Barua made a statement. The statement said, "There has been a acute shortage of blood in private hospitals since last year after the outbreak of corona epidemic. All blood banks are completely empty. There is a shortage of blood in hospitals as blood donation can't be applied due to the epidemic".
At the same time, Roopak Barua said, "Blood cannot be donated for 14 days after taking a single dose of corona vaccine. This is also a major reason for not donating blood. A special initiative of 'Blood Two and Vaccination Slot Pao' has been taken to encourage blood donor amidst blood scarcity". Further, Roopak Barua also said, "Techno India Dama Hospital has tied up with a non-promotional institution to take this initiative to the ground. The NGO encourages people to donate blood for cancer patients at Tata Medical Centre. Donors are in turn assured of vaccine slots".
Let us tell you all that in the midst of the epidemic, people are trying to get the vaccine slots empty, while hospitals are in dire need of blood. This has led to this unique initiative. "Two buses are plying in different parts of the city for those who do not want to go to the hospital for blood donation," says Pranab Bedi, co-founder of Project Life Force. People can donate blood there. He also said, "Those who donate blood under this initiative will get a slot to get the vaccine within three days."
