New Delhi: In South Africa, Omicron, a new corona infection subtype, has developed. It has sparked fear throughout the world. According to the information so far, the new variant is also capable of beating the corona vaccination. Many scientists have also warned that if new corona variations emerge, the vaccination would need to be modified as well.

With the emergence of the omicron, efforts to develop a vaccine for it have accelerated. Novavax, a firm based in the United States, said that it has begun developing a vaccine to combat new strains. The vaccine will also be available for testing and manufacture in the coming weeks, according to the firm. The business claims to be developing a spike protein that would boost immunity against the new variety B.1.1.529. This week, a novel Corona B.1.1529 strain was discovered in South Africa.

The World Health Organization (WHO) labelled it as "alarming" on Friday, using the term "variant of concern" to describe it. 'Omicron' is the name given to it. It is thought to be more lethal than the other corona types. The initial work, according to a Novavax spokesman, will begin in the next weeks. Furthermore, BioNTech of Germany and Johnson & Johnson of the United States have said that they are testing the efficacy of their vaccine on Omicron versions. At the same time, Inovio Pharmaceuticals, a US business, has announced that it is testing its vaccine against the new version to see how effective it is. The testing will take place in two weeks, according to the business.
