New Delhi: The Modi government at the Centre has planned to link Aadhaar cards and Voter ID cards, which has been objected to by AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi. Owaisi has linked it to the safety and privacy of citizens. Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat MP Asaduddin Owaisi has opposed the new Election Law (Amendment) Bill, 2021 by giving a notice in the Lok Sabha in the winter session of Parliament. Let me tell you that this Bill is going to be introduced in the Lok Sabha today.

As per New Election Laws (Amendment), Bill 2021, it is all set to link voter ID cards with the Aadhaar card. It is being reported that this will not lead to fraud like having two voter ID cards. AIMIM Chief wrote in his letter that linking Aadhaar cards and voter ID cards have many disadvantages, which threaten the safety and privacy of citizens. Owaisi has claimed that this will give governments the right to suppress, deprive people of voting rights and be biased. It has also been claimed that this will hamper secret ballots, free and fair elections.

Owaisi has termed the bill as against the Supreme Court order. He wrote that the bill violates the Supreme court's verdict. Owaisi wrote in his letter that doing so is a violation of the way the Supreme Court has defined the fundamental right to privacy.

The bill provides for the linking of voter ID cards with Aadhaar cards to prevent bogus voting and duplication in electoral rolls. At the same time, there is a provision to enter the electoral roll 4 times a year. The bill will also make electoral law 'gender neutral' for service voters.
